Canon Point: Act 5, Part 2- When Feferi goes to sleep after Derse was destroyed
Setting: There are two major settings that Feferi and her kind bumble through, starting with-
Alternia: Off in a universe older and much different than Earth's is the troll home planet of Alternia. The rest of the troll's universe isn't well explained though we do know other races exist. Trolls like to conquer them.
But what is a troll? They're basically grey skinned, orange eyed and candy corn horned humanoids. They're described as a violent, dangerous race that, as mentioned before, flies their Imperial Fleet around crushing any opposition. They are so war-like that apparently all adult trolls leave the planet to join the ranks of the Fleet in some way or another. The race is prone to nightmares, calmed by the green 'sopor slime' they sleep in to ease said terrors instead of sleeping in beds. They even have an entire off shoot of 'romance' that centers around a more level headed troll keeping a dangerous one from losing his or her head and becoming a threat to themselves and others.
Trolls are raised by a monster called a lusus instead of parenting in the human sense of the word. When a troll is hatched they have to undergo trials and survive traveling through the brooding caverns, making their way until one of the monsters there either kills them or decides to care for them. From that moment on the lusus and troll have a pull and push relationship- the lusus protects the young troll from various threats and acts as something of a mentor as the trolls takes care of the lusus in turn, almost like a zookeeper.
A lusus will only pick a troll that shares it's blood, which is another big, confusing matter. Trolls have different blood colors that correlate to their place in troll society. Red is considered peasants, low bloods, moving up through several colors, brown, yellow, green, ect, until you get to purple, the high caste blood. The very top of the caste are sea dwellers, trolls that live underwater and form an aristocracy that rules the entire planet.
So yeah, all that's pretty strange. Well all that is destroyed when SGrub comes around. To make an extremely long story short Alternia is destroyed, and this computer/general game SGrub gives twelve trolls the chance to survive and perhaps rebuild their race. They actually do pretty well, they make it to the end and beat the big bad, and in reward they get a shiny new universe to inhabit.
Unfortunately for our heroes the session is 'scratched.' A glitch, a problem, something stemming from the universe they created in the first place, Earth and the game of four human kids, ruins everything. The trolls are forced to flee to...
The Veil: This is the second setting. The Veil is an asteroid belt on the edge of their universe, in particular a laboratory on one of the asteroids. This lab obviously had something to do with their game session in general, but now it's their hideout. See when their universe began it's destruction a 'demon' came out to finish the job. It already destroyed two planets, Derse and Prospit, and now is coming after the trolls.
On the subject of those two planets, nearly all the trolls (besides Aradia) have a dream self sleeping on either Derse or Prospit. Why this is isn't clear but when a troll dies his or her dream self can take their place. One free game over.
On the Veil the trolls can contact the universe they created, more importantly contact the four kids on Earth that accidentally messed up their session. And all that background brings us to...
Personality: Feferi. One of the best and most often used ways to describe Feferi is excitable. She's a teenager by human standards and an optimistic one at that, prone to giddiness and finding excitement in pretty much everything. It's something she's known for, enough that her friends expect it and even get concerned when she seems anything less than cheerful. For Feferi there's so many things to do and see, and maybe growing up with the constant prophecies her lusus whispered to her made her try to find surprise and excitement everywhere else, since she wouldn't be very surprised by the future. Or maybe she is just a ball of energy. Yeah, that sounds right.
Feferi's lusus was known as as Gl'bgolyb, a terrible tentacled monster whose size can accurately be measured in miles miles that is also known as the "The Rift's Carbuncle", "Emissary to the HorrorTerrors", or in more hushed tones, "Speaker of the Vast Glub." Feferi is the only troll to share her blood color, and that blood color is highest caste in troll society. It makes her the Heir Apparent for rulership of all of Alternia, next in line for Empress. Without her monstrous lusus this distinction would have probably gotten her killed, but that sea monster is not something even the Imperial Fleet wants to deal with, for more than just it's size.
Gl'bgolyb's voice is extremely dangerous. Normally it is just at a whisper, but if she were to raise it lower blooded trolls would begin to die. If she shouted all trolls on the planet would die, and if she released the 'vast glub,' a psychic shockwave, all trolls in the universe would die. As her keeper Feferi must keep Gl'bgolyb fed to keep that dangerous voice down, which she does in a way that she does not enjoy. With the help of her moirail (basically meaning a fated friend by troll labels) Eridan, she feeds her with other trolls lusii.
That is a piece of Feferi's personality that isn't obvious at first glance, that she is willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Her dreams for the throne seem almost childish in their optimism, wishing to change the troll term of culling, killing the weak or useless, to taking care of the weak instead. Despite this nurturing nature, strange enough for trolls, she is willing to orphan trolls if it means saving the whole race. So far in the series she has shown no deep guilt for this, though she is certainly not pleased by it and states at one point as much as she loves her lusus she will be glad when she doesn't need to feed her anymore.
Her lusus whispered prophecies to her, including a good deal of what would happen in the game and the fact the world would be destroyed. Because of this Feferi tends towards cryptic comments without fully realizing she's being cryptic in the first place. She has the strong belief that everyone, including herself, have an important role to play, one they were born to do. She can occasionally give off the air of knowing more than others of what's to come, though how much of it she does know is uncertain. Wherever she gets her information from, either her lusus or the gods of the furthest ring, which her lusus was emissary for, Feferi obviously trusts the information. She is even willing to go to sleep after her dream self died on what can be assumed is their information, despite Karkat's warnings and orders not to.
Despite some of this maturity Feferi can be pretty flighty. She gets tired of her responsibilities on Alternia, including both her lusus and more so keeping Eridan from killing other trolls. His emotional theatrics wear her down and she 'breaks up' with him as moirails, seeming to enjoy a newfound sense of freedom. Feferi seems to want to start a new life as their old lives end, putting the past behind her, even if that means leaving some things or people behind.
While Feferi is the highest blood color possible she is one of the few higher caste trolls who don't seem to care about caste. She states that sea dwelling, high blooded trolls aren't better than anyone else and even seems to get very attached to Sollux, one of the lower blooded trolls. She doesn't seem to have an wishes to lead either, letting Karkat take command even though she also shows no problem with disagreeing with him when he wants to give the human kids trouble.
Finally Feferi is one of the nicest trolls, appearing to be more enthusiastic than anything. Eridan states at some point that she seems to get along with everyone and she admits that she doesn't hate anyone they know either. She is one of the few trolls to want to help and be friends with the humans rather than troll them and hate them for their part in messing up the troll's session.
Abilities and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
- Strength (lmao) - Feferi is shown dragging around huge whales and jumped a very long way with the strength of her legs alone. The only other person shown to jump this way is pointedly mentioned to be outrageously strong so Feferi is probably pretty strong too, at least enough to swim a whale corpse around.
- Sea Dweller - She is a sea dweller so she can breath/survive living underwater. She can also live on land, thankfully.
Weaknesses:
- Age - She's technically a 13 year old by human standards. While troll teenagers are obviously different and deal with a lot she's still just a kid in a lot of ways.
Inventory:
- Brainfork: A double headed trident (http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/2x3dentkind#Brainfork)
- her sylladex, a card based system used for storing things (with 6 captcha cards if that's alright :] )
- recuperacoon, basically the troll equivalent of a bed
- a change of clothes or two
- a cuttlefish
Appearance: Feferi, like all trolls, has grey skin and orange/yellow in what humans would consider the whites of her eyes, with no color in the iris, simply a black pupil. Unlike other trolls she's a sea dweller, meaning she has two fin like protrusions coming from the sides of her face. What their purpose is, if any, remains unknown.
Her hair is black, as per troll standard, long and a bit wavy. She seems to be the average height for trolls, which is about the average height for 13 year old humans presumably. Unlike most trolls she gravitates towards bright colors, usually wearing pastel greens, blues and pinks in her clothes and jewelry. The Pisces sign is a recurring them in her clothes and accessories.

Sometimes Feferi had to admit it was really hard to keep up with her lusus. The creature, a deep sea monster most considered terrifying legend, whispered relentlessly. The end of the world, the end of all things, black and white and chessboards full of great armies, futures full of chance, union and destruction.
It was hard to make a lot of it out, and maybe if Feferi was a little more solemn she would feel resentment for the creature. The truth remained though, how that terrible beast kept her alive despite forces that would surely have had her head and royal tyrian purple blood spilled for politics and power. More so than that, Gl'bgolyb was what humans would consider a mother, father, sibling and pet all in one tentacled mess. Of course she didn't know about humans then, and would probably never understand their strange yet simple family structures, but the analogy remained the same.
She slowly sunk lower in the water, watching the indigo blood of the great whale Gl'bgolyb was currently eating run down her beak. Soon everything would start, Gl'bgolyb would die and be born again, even if it still felt like good bye.
Feferi placed her hand against one of the large tentacle lazily floating about, easily dwarfing her a hundredfold. It wriggled in a familiar way as she pressed her forehead against it and smiled sadly into it's mass.
I'll see you soon. The tentacle wriggled further, holding still up until Feferi pushed back and turned towards home.
There wasn't a lot of time for that. After all, she had an important job to do.
